Description
Engineers choose Cathtect USA when they want modern performance without legacy complexity.
DEKOTEC invented the world’s first passive corrosion prevention system for pipelines in 1927, and PLASTELEN® has been protecting infrastructure ever since. Nearly a century later, it remains one of the most practical ways to seal complex geometry above or below ground.
The PLASTELEN® system works in layers. The primer creates the first reliable layer of protection. Mastic fills cavities and smooths uneven surfaces on fittings and flange connections. Petrolatum tape then encases the component in a flexible, moisture-resistant wrap. Because it’s applied cold and conforms by hand, PLASTELEN® is ideal for repairs, retrofits and components that can’t be taken out of service.
The PLASTELEN® range includes:
- PLASTELEN®-Tape – petrolatum tapes in grades for low, medium and high operating temperatures, damp surfaces and underwater use
- PLASTELEN®-Mastic – filling compounds for flanges, valves and irregular profiles
- PLASTELEN®-Primer – the first layer of every PLASTELEN® system, with options for wet surfaces and underwater application
- PLASTELEN®-TB System – a long-lasting seal for the steel-to-concrete transition on above-ground tank bottoms
- MarineProtect®-Tape – petrolatum tape for structures in water and splash zones
Every PLASTELEN® order is backed by Cathtect’s specification support, application guidance and field service, and by the cathodic protection expertise that keeps your coating and CP system working together.
