Polarization Cell Replacement (SSD-DCD) Decoupler

Polarization Cell Replacement (SSD-DCD): Innovative technology that controls and preserves Cathodic Protection currents, limits and mitigates overvoltages or stray currents.

“Non-Shorting” retains the applied voltage at the threshold level whilst in limiting mode action in compliance with NFPA 70 Section 250 for controlling and preserving Cathodic Protection currents on pipeline/ structure whilst limiting and mitigating & DC overvoltages. The additional patented feature removes capacitive corruption of DCVG & CIPS survey signals whilst preserving surveyor safety.

Features:
  • Largest and most robust unit in the Decoupler Range.
  • Wide range of options to suit specifications and design requirements.
  • Volt Drop across the Device – ( does not short circuit)
  • Suitable for all applications
  • Easy installation and optional accessories

We are also happy to engage with you on your specific needs should they not be listed here. We have been manufacturing CP Equipment since 1992.

Other voltage threshold ranges available on request.

Polarization Cell Replacement devices conduct once a predetermined voltage has been attained. Once conducting, they maintain the predetermined volt drop across the device.

Decouplers

Solid State Decoupler (SSD)

Innovative Solid-State technology that controls and preserves Cathodic Protection currents, limits and mitigates overvoltages or stray currents.

  • Wide range of options to suit specifications and design requirements
  • Sharp Turn on Feature

SSD’s functions as a DC voltage level clamping device in buried pipeline and storage tank systems. It can, at the same time, mitigate AC voltage.

Decoupler Isolators

Decoupler Isolation can be utilized to Improve your CP Survey accuracy & Personnel Safety out in the field. The Decoupler Isolation can be built into Cathtect Decoupling devices or offered as a secondary addition within the decoupler circuit to improve your control in the field. Ask for our implementation design options.

Features:
  • The isolation device carries the same current capacity as the device to which it is fitted. (Option to be selected during order placement, to allow incorporation into the device at assembly.)
  • The isolation device is a double insulation device complete with switching ark diffusion, chamber shrouding, venting the harmful flame and gasses away from the operator.
  • No handling of live hardware or exposure to arcing whilst operating the isolator. The operator actuated toggle is double insulated from the isolated components.
  • Available in a separate enclosure where 3rd party Decoupling devices or Decouplers have been installed prior to the isolation requirement being evident.
(Isolator in this instance must be matched to the existing Decoupler fault current handling capacity.)

Cathtect has developed a Decoupler Isolator to effectively and easily eliminate decoupler interference for surveys whilst maintaining safety.

Marine Decoupler

The solid-state 30AMP or 50AMP De-coupling devices are a solid-state DC isolation/AC grounding devices designed for Marine applications in cathodically protected equipment.

  • The units are easily mounted and connected to the ground wire for yachts and boats to eliminate anode current loss to the AC dock power grounding system saving up to 40% of the anode current loss.
  • This De-coupling device will save you on premature anode replacement.

Voltage Limiting Device (VLD)

Voltage limiting and safety for pipelines and touch potentials.

Over voltage limiting technology that controls and preserves Cathodic Protection currents, limits and mitigates overvoltages and keeps your staff safe whilst working at test stations.

Typical discharge currents are 1,2kA, 3,7kA, 5kA and 14kA. Hazards can be mitigated by suitable enclosure and application selection.
